North Ayrshire Stars hosted Kirkcaldy Chiefs in the Scottish U14 League over the weekend aiming to spring a surprise on their high-flying opponents.
The Stars produced a spirited display, keeping the scoreline close for much of the game. However, the visitors eventually pulled away to secure a 5-2 victory.
Flynn Massie and Rocco Murray were on the scoresheet for the Stars, while netminder Calum Simmonds picked up the MVP award.
North Ayrshire Sabres travelled north to take part in a cross-ice tournament with teams from Kilmarnock, Lanarkshire and two from Murrayfield.
With Lanarkshire and one of the Murrayfield teams short-benched, some of the Sabres players volunteered to join their respective rosters.
This excellent gesture allowed the event to go ahead and ensured that all the children enjoyed a productive day on the ice.
