North Ayrshire Wild return to Scottish National League (SNL) action this weekend aiming to follow up last Sunday’s cup heroics.
Wild’s superb 6-3 victory at Paisley Pirates secured second place in the southern section of the Stuart Robertson Cup (SRC) and took them through to the semi-finals of the competition.
They now switch their attentions back to the league as they welcome Belfast Giants SNL to Auchenharvie Leisure Centre on Saturday.
Wild have won one out of four in the SNL this term and will be eager to enhance that record against the league’s new boys.
Giants have lost their first two matches of the campaign, although they produced a much-improved performance in their most recent outing at Aberdeen Lynx.
Kirkcaldy Kestrels are also in league action on Saturday as they travel to face Kilmarnock Thunder at the Galleon Centre.
Steven Wishart’s side defeated Dundee Comets 5-4 after overtime in their last match and will be confident of building on that result this weekend.
Kirkcaldy return to home ice the following day as they host Dundee Tigers in their final northern group game in the SRC.
The Comets will bid to break their duck in the NIHL North Cup on the previous evening as they go head-to-head with Whitley Warriors to Dundee Ice Arena.
They have lost all five group games to date and a defeat this weekend would end their interest in this season’s competition.
Murrayfield Racers play twice this weekend, travelling to Braehead Arena to face Paisley in the SRC on Saturday before hosting Kilmarnock in the league the following day.
