Murrayfield youngsters perform well in three-team tournament at Ayr

Murrayfield Junior Ice Hockey Club enjoyed a productive time of things as two of their teams hit the ice over the weekend.

The club’s U10s travelled to Ayr to take part in a three-team tournament alongside the Bruins and Lanarkshire Lightning.

Players from all three teams did themselves proud ahead of proceedings by impeccably observing a minute’s silence to mark Remembrance Day.

Murrayfield performed well once the matches got underway, winning two out of four to secure second place in the final standings.

Netminders Jonnie Livingstone and Lewis Gair gained some valuable ice time as they split the games between them, while Charlie Donaldson was on target with his first goals at U10 level.

The tournament was played in great spirits with some very good play and skill on show from all the teams involved.

Lewis Stewart was the star of the show as Murrayfield’s U14 side took on Inverness Highlanders on Saturday.

Stewart weighed in with seven goals and four assists as the Edinburgh-based side ran out 23-1 winners.

Daniel Watson (4), Josh Sangster (3) and Lukas James (3) were also amongst the scorers.
