SNL preview: Thunder and Tigers set for opening weekend battle

The 2021/22 Scottish National League (SNL) season gets underway this weekend.

All eyes will be on the Galleon Centre on Saturday as Kilmarnock Thunder go head-to-head with Dundee Tigers.

Thunder have played once in the run-up to the new season, recording an impressive home victory over Murrayfield Racers.

They have improved their roster this summer, with the return of forwards Marcus Murdoch and Ewan Anderson from Solway Sharks amongst their most notable signings.

Tigers had a mixed time of things during pre-season, securing a narrow win at Kirkcaldy Kestrels before slipping to a home defeat against Aberdeen Lynx.

Their squad features plenty of experience, while prolific junior forward Rio Page will be eager to shine on his debut season in the SNL.

Dundee Comets are also in action as they visit Billingham Stars in the NIHL Moralee Cup (North).

The Comets were beaten 5-3 at Solway in their opening group game and can ill-afford another defeat here.
