Kirkcaldy Kestrels clinched the Scottish National League (SNL) title in front of a bumper crowd at Fife Ice Arena on Saturday.
The Kestrels went into their game against Dundee Comets knowing that a win in regulation time would seal the league crown.
The home side broke the deadlock in the 29th minute through Sean Cochrane, but John Dolan equalised five minutes later.
However, Reece Cochrance’s blast from the blueline midway through the third period secured a 2-1 victory for the Kestrels.
Aberdeen Lynx claimed the runners-up spot courtesy of a 7-0 home win against North Ayrshire Wild – Mark Laing (2) and Jordan Leyden (2) topped the scoring.
Callum Henderson and Zak Kenneth were on target for Paisley Pirates as they ran out 2-1 winners at Dundee Tigers.
Two of the four SNL Play-off quarter-final ties are now known, with the Kestrels set to face Kilmarnock Thunder and Lynx going head-to-head with Wild.
The Comets are currently in third position and would face Belfast SNL Giants if they match the Pirates’ result against the Kestrels next weekend.
The Pirates cannot finish any lower than fourth place and would meet the Tigers unless the Comets slip up in their final game.
