Aberdeen Lynx’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup were ended in heartbreaking fashion as they narrowly failed to complete a remarkable comeback against Dundee Comets over the weekend.
Lynx trailed 6-2 after the first leg of their last eight tie, but managed to claw their way back to within one goal with just over eight minutes to play – Iain Malcolm (2), Mark Laing (2) and Jordan Leyden got the goals.
However, they were unable to find an equaliser with the game ending 5-2 to hand the Comets an 8-7 aggregate victory.
Murrayfield Racers battled back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 5-3 home win against Paisley Pirates in the Scottish National League (SNL) – Marty Simpson (2), Joel Gautschi (2) and Garry Simpson were on target for the reigning champions.
Allan Anderson (3) and Grant Jamieson (3) were amongst the scorers as Kirkcaldy Kestrels moved up to sixth in the standings with an emphatic 17-0 victory at home to Kilmarnock Thunder.
