SNL round-up: Racers keep up the pressure, Comets on fire against Wild

Murrayfield Racers kept up their pursuit of Solway Sharks at the top of the Scottish National League (SNL) with two emphatic road victories over the weekend.

The Racers secured a comprehensive 23-1 win at Kilmarnock Thunder on Saturday – Garry Simpson (6), Alex Christian (3), Callum Boyd (3) and Archie Holmes (3) led the scoring.

Tony Hand’s side completed a productive weekend with an impressive 8-1 success at Paisley Pirates the following day – Marty and Garry Simpson weighed in with a couple of goals apiece, while Michael Ireland, Joel Gautschi, Grigors and Christian were also on target.

Dundee Tigers remain third in the table after recording a 5-1 victory at Kirkcaldy Kestrels – Daniel Topping, Paul Guilcher, Richy Fox, Sean Dyer and Jack Terroni got the goals.

Scott Cowan, Marc Fowley, Scott Wright, Ryan Parkin and Martin Cardno were on the scoresheet as North Ayrshire Wild sealed an excellent 5-1 home win against Aberdeen Lynx.

Wild were out of luck the following day they slipped to a 7-4 defeat at Dundee Comets – Jonathan McBean (3), Lewis McIntosh (2), Patriks Grigors and David Pokorny hit the target for the home side.
