Murrayfield Racers took a step closer to reaching the final of the Scottish Cup with a hard fought victory at Dundee Tigers on Sunday.
Ross Borwick, Garry Simpson and Dean Walker were on target as the Racers secured a 3-2 lead in the first leg of their last four tie.
Dundee Comets’ hopes of retaining the cup were dealt a big blow as they slipped to a 7-2 defeat in their semi-final at Paisley Pirates.
The Comets had better luck the previous day as they ran out 12-5 winners at Kilmarnock Thunder in the Scottish National League (SNL).
Solway Sharks need just one point to clinch the title after recording an emphatic 20-0 home victory over Kilmarnock – Viktor Nestrasil (4), Ewan Anderson (3) and Scott Henderson (3) topped their scoring.
Dundee Tigers remain on course to claim a top three finish after securing a 5-0 win at home to North Ayrshire Wild – Ross McIntosh (2), Callum Turnbull, Andrew Henderson and Daniel Topping got the goals.
Kirkcaldy Kestrels moved up to sixth in the table after sealing a 4-2 home success against Aberdeen Lynx – Andy Finlay, Scott Jamieson, Jamie Wilson and Graeme Allan were on the scoresheet for the Fife team.
