SNL round-up: Youngsters make their mark as Kestrels bag four-point weekend

Kirkcaldy Kestrels moved to the top of the Scottish National League (SNL) after recording two victories over the weekend.

The Kestrels kicked things off with an 8-1 victory over Kilmarnock Thunder at Fife Ice Arena.

Chad Smith (3), Finley King, Tymo Szewczyk, Josh Saunders, Jamie Chandler and Gregor Smith were on the scoresheet.

Szewczyk and Saunders’ goals were their first for the club in the SNL.

They followed up with a 4-2 win at Dundee Tigers – Allan Anderson, Liam Danskin, George Pitcaithly and Sean Cochrane got the goals. Robbie Hill and Callum Hill replied for the Tigers.

Jonathan McBean (2) and Darren Donaldson (2) topped the scoring for Dundee Comets as they ran out 7-2 winners at home to Paisley Pirates.

Two goals in the final 10 minutes helped Belfast SNL Giants fend off a stern challenge from North Ayrshire Wild at Dundonald Ice Bowl.

Stephen Eccles’ hat-trick goal tied things up before Adam Robinson bagged his second of the game to secure a 7-6 victory.
