🏒 SNL Playoffs Begin – Weekend Preview

The business end of the season is here as the SNL Playoffs get underway this weekend with the start of the group stages. After a fiercely competitive regular season, the slate is wiped clean — and with just four spots available for Finals Weekend, every point counts.

The six qualifying teams have been split into two groups:

• Group A: Paisley Pirates (5th), Aberdeen Lynx (3rd), Dundee Rockets (1st)
• Group B: North Ayrshire Wild (6th), Kirkcaldy Kestrels (4th), Edinburgh Capitals (2nd)

Each team will face the other two in their group home and away, and only the top two from each group will progress to the Semi-Finals on April 19th & 20th.

There are four games on tap this weekend â€” two on Saturday and two on Sunday — and every single one promises plenty of action.

Saturday Fixtures

🟥 Edinburgh Capitals vs Kirkcaldy Kestrels

Two of the most hard-hitting, fast-paced sides in the league face off in what could set the tone for Group B. The Capitals and Kestrels know each other well — with plenty of tension during the regular season — and both will be looking to start strong. With playoff pressure and past rivalries in play, expect physicality, pace, and a game where penalties could swing the momentum.

🟥 Aberdeen Lynx vs Dundee Rockets

Up at the Linx Ice Arena, it’s a clash of titans in Group A. The Rockets have stunned the league in their debut season, finishing top of the table and proving to be a tough nut to crack. But the Lynx were the pace-setters for much of the campaign and have already shown they can go toe-to-toe with Dundee. Expect a charged-up crowd and a fast, physical battle between two top-end teams.

Sunday Fixtures

🟦 Paisley Pirates vs Dundee Rockets

The Rockets head west for their second tough test of the weekend as they visit Braehead to take on the Pirates. Paisley hit form late in the season and were very close to 4th place. Don’t be fooled by the standings — this is a battle between two highly capable sides. If the Rockets show any signs of fatigue, the Pirates are sure to capitalise on any weaknesses.

🟦 North Ayrshire Wild vs Kirkcaldy Kestrels

Sunday also sees Wild host Kestrels in Group B action. Wild may be the youngest squad in the Playoffs, but they’ve been steadily gaining experience all season, taking goals from higher-placed teams. The Kestrels will need to dig deep after Saturday’s clash with the Capitals, and can’t afford to take Wild lightly. With both teams hungry and fast, keeping a level head and staying out of the box could be key once again.
