Great Britain Women U18 leave it late to see off Korea in Katowice

A late goal by Emily Harris secured a narrow 1-0 victory for Great Britain Women U18 over Korea at the World Championship (Division 1B) tournament in Poland on Friday.

Harris’ goal was her third in two games, while netminder Ella Howard secured a 26-shot shutout.

Head coach, Cheryl Smith, said: “I was so pleased to see the way we stuck at it and persevered.

“After the disappointment of letting the lead slip yesterday, it was important the girls went into the game with the right attitude.

“They all worked so hard and saw off a lot of penalties and the coaching staff were very impressed with that.

“Of course, it would have been nice for it to be a little more comfortable but we showed great character to grind out the win.”

GB return to action on Sunday when they face Norway (face-off 3.30pm UK time).
