Murrayfield junior teams produce spirited performances across hectic weekend

Murrayfield JIHC had a busy time of things last weekend, with teams from three different age groups all in action.

The club’s U14 were on league duty as they welcomed their counterparts from Kilmarnock to Murrayfield Ice Rink.

Jack Adams, Cody Adams and Kaiden Sustins were on target for the home side in a hugely entertaining 3-3 draw.

Murrayfield’s U12 side were out of luck in the Scottish Cup despite producing a spirited fightback at North Ayrshire Penguins.

The hosts had a three-goal advantage early in the final period, but two goals by Cory Nicol to complete his hat-trick made it 4-3 with just over three minutes to play.

However, North Ayrshire’s defence held firm to secure their place in the cup final at Dundee Ice Arena during March.

Murrayfield sent two U10 teams to Fife to take part in a cross-ice tournament against teams from Kirkcaldy, Dundee and Aberdeen.

Coach Steven Francey was delighted with his players’ effort and gave special mention to Stanley Hudson who grabbed his first goal for the club.
