Scottish Ice Hockey hoping to participate in Slovakia tournament

Scottish Ice Hockey is aiming to provide its junior players with an exciting development opportunity by sending four teams to compete in an international tournament in Bratislava.

With the prospect of staging trials currently out of the equation, it has been decided to offer this trip to the players who made the four Conference squads (U11, U13, U15 & U17) in 2020.

SIH has sought assurances regarding the standard of the competition, and we have been informed that there are plenty of good quality teams willing to participate.

The deciding factor for the trip will be if safe travel is allowed in and out of Slovakia and possibly Austria as flights may be necessary to Vienna.

If travel is not possible, the trip will either be rescheduled or cancelled dependent on the advice we receive at that point.

SIH chairman David Hand said: “Everyone is missing our sport – players, families and relatives, and we as a governing body are missing it just as much.

“We think this is a great opportunity to provide some light at the end of the tunnel and give the players something that will help get their development back on track.”

The proposed dates for the tournament are May 27th – 31st, 2021. A letter has been sent via email to the parents or legal guardians of the players in question this evening.
