SIH launches online Zoom fitness classes for junior players

The SIH National Coaching Team have confirmed that their online Zoom fitness classes will start this weekend.

On Sunday, 14th February (12 noon), all players aged 14+ are welcome to attend a fitness and strength & conditioning class held by current Lanarkshire Lightning coach and qualified physical instructor, Robert Henderson.

He has previously worked predominately with his own players at club level but is happy to support every player within SIH to help us through these difficult times.

The following Tuesday (7.30 pm) players aged 13 and under can attend their class which will be staged by Stuart Edwards.

He is a performance coach with the British Army and also works with Peterborough Phantoms and Great Britain Under-20s as a strength and conditioning coach.

SIH coach Barry Carnegie said: “Both instructors are excited to work with the players of SIH to help keep them fit during our time away from the rinks.

“These classes are a great way to kickstart our off-ice program, and they will become a regular thing over the coming weeks with other instructors already lined up.

“We are grateful to both Robert and Stuart for agreeing to support our efforts to keep ice hockey alive in Scotland during the lockdown.”

For the classes, participants are encouraged to be prepared and on time to avoid missing a warm-up.

Make sure to wear suitable workout clothing, have a bottle of water at hand and be in a large open space at home or in the garage or garden.
