Slovenia defeat crucial as GB Women exit Olympic qualifiers

Great Britain Women’s Olympic dreams are over despite a 1-0 victory over Korea in their final qualifying game at Nottingham on Sunday.

A surprise 2-1 defeat against Slovenia in their second match proved to be hugely costly for Mike Clancy’s team.

It left GB needing to win by at least two goals against Korea, but they ultimately came up just short.

Louise Adams scored GB’s solitary effort late in the second period, but Korea stood firm to progress to the next stage.

Teenage netminder Inhye Jang produced another fantastic performance between the pipes to frustrate the GB attackers.

Adams’ effort was the only goal Korea conceded during the tournament and the top seeds did enough to fend off GB.
