SNL preview: Pivotal weekend on the cards as title rivals go head-to-head

There is a big weekend ahead for Murrayfield Racers as they strive to successfully defend the Scottish National League (SNL) title.

The Racers visit Aberdeen Lynx on Saturday, before returning to home ice to take on table-topping Solway Sharks the following day.

Tony Hand’s side are currently 10 points behind the Sharks, but have four games in hand on their title rivals.

Solway recorded a 3-2 win in the reverse fixture, meaning the Racers will have to secure a bigger margin of victory if they’re to claim the better head-to-head record.

Dundee Tigers are also in action twice this weekend as they bid to strengthen their grip on a top three place in the standings.

The Tigers head into Saturday’s game at Dundee Comets with a five-point advantage over North Ayrshire Wild in the standings.

They follow up the local derby with a home game against Paisley Pirates on Sunday. The Pirates are also in action the previous day as they host Belfast Giants SNL.

The remaining fixture is on Sunday as Kirkcaldy Kestrels welcome Belfast to Fife Ice Arena.
