Solway Sharks took a big step towards winning the Scottish National League (SNL) title with a thrilling comeback at Murrayfield Racers on Sunday.
The Sharks trailed 4-2 early in the third period, but two goals by Iain Bowie in the final eight minutes sent the game to overtime.
The unbeaten league leaders secured the additional point just over two minutes into the extra session as Peter Gapa’s goal sealed a 5-4 success.
The Racers had better luck the previous day as they ran out 4-0 winners at Aberdeen Lynx – Marty Simpson (2), Garry Simpson and Michael Ireland got the goals.
Sean Dyer, Ben MacFarlane, Ross McIntosh and Jack Henderson were on the scoresheet as Dundee Tigers claimed a narrow 4-3 victory at Dundee Comets.
The Tigers were out of luck the following day as they fell 5-1 at home to Paisley Pirates – McIntosh bagged their solitary goal.
Kirkcaldy Kestrels recorded a 5-4 win at home to Belfast Giants SNL – Jamie Crawford, Chris Wands, Sean Cochrane, Ethan Meldrum and Allan Anderson were the scorers.
That result completed a difficult weekend on the road for Belfast following their 13-4 defeat against the Pirates the previous day.
