Rockets Climb as League Battle Intensifies
Dundee Rockets strengthened their position in the standings on Sunday, moving up one place into third after an emphatic 8–2 win over Paisley Pirates. Dundee started fast, taking control early and racing to a four-goal lead by the first intermission. Their momentum carried into the second period, where they added three more to build a commanding 7–0 advantage.
Paisley mounted some response late on, scoring through Ryan Campbell and Craig Peacock, but Dundee had already put the contest well beyond reach. Deniss Kontseus completed his hat-trick to round off a convincing Rockets performance that lifts them into third while Pirates drop to fourth.
Lynx Start Strong in the Scottish Cup
Scottish Ice Hockey’s weekend action began in Kilmarnock, where a short-benched Aberdeen Lynx opened their Scottish Cup campaign with an assured 10–4 win over Thunder in the first leg of their quarter-final. Thunder struck inside the opening minute through Ross Chalmers, but the Lynx responded quickly through Mark Laing before settling into the smaller pad and finding their rhythm. Aberdeen took control with a dominant first period, adding five more goals — including a memorable moment as Rhubin Wilson scored his first senior goal.
The middle period tightened up, with Thunder’s Mylo Wylie pulling one back and Conor Duncan replying for the Lynx. Aberdeen struck early again in the third through Jordan Leyden, and although Thunder found the net twice in the final period, the Lynx matched them with goals from Sean Dyer and a power-play finish from Aaron Thomson. The result gives Aberdeen a strong aggregate lead heading into the second leg at the Linx Ice Arena on 29 November.
Kestrels Hold Off Warriors Before Sunday’s Disruption
Kirkcaldy Kestrels and Whitley Warriors played out a tight contest on Saturday, with a scoreless first period setting the stage for a closely fought game. The breakthrough finally came in the second, when Harry Harley opened the scoring for Whitley on the power play, before Ben Richards doubled the visitors’ lead shortly after. The Kestrels hit back later in the period through Kyle Horne, giving the home side a chance heading into the third.
Despite pressure from Kirkcaldy in the final period, the Warriors held firm and closed out a 2–1 road win.
The Warriors’ weekend then ended abruptly when their home fixture against North Ayrshire Wild on Sunday was abandoned. The league will confirm the outcome once reviewed, and both teams stay in their current positions.
Capitals Stay Perfect
Edinburgh Capitals maintained their unbeaten league start with a composed 5–2 win on the road against Solway Sharks. Captain Joel Gautschi opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period, while Solway netminder Harry Campbell delivered another impressive performance under sustained pressure. Edinburgh extended their advantage in the second, adding two more — including a power-play strike from Aidan Paterson.
The final period saw a more even exchange, with Solway responding through Stephen Adams and a power-play effort from Scott Crane. However, Sean Cochrane‘s second goal of the night ensured the Capitals secured the points, continuing their perfect start and keeping them clear at the top of the table.
