It was another big weekend in the SNL, with major movements across the table and the fight for top spot intensifying.
Edinburgh Capitals climbed three places to first following their 2–0 win over Aberdeen Lynx on Saturday. Whitley Warriors slipped to second after a narrow loss to Solway, while Paisley Pirates moved up to third after taking maximum points across the weekend. Aberdeen Lynxdropped from second to fourth, Dundee Rockets edged up one place to fifth, and Kirkcaldy Kestrels fell three spots to sixth. There was no movement for Solway Sharks, North Ayrshire Wild, or Kilmarnock Thunder.
Sharks Mark Home Return with a Win
Saturday marked a milestone for Solway Sharks SNL, as they hosted their first home game following the reopening of the Dumfries Ice Bowl. The Sharks faced Whitley Warriors and came away with a hard-earned 2–1 victory.
After two scoreless periods, Bailey Thomson broke the deadlock five minutes into the third before Scott Crane doubled the lead soon after. Whitley responded through Cameron Ware, but despite late pressure, couldn’t find the equaliser.
Pirates Enjoy Perfect Weekend
The following night, Solway were back on home ice against Paisley Pirates, but the visitors took full control — shutting out the Sharks 6–0. After a tight opening period, Gary Parker opened the scoring for Paisley before a dominant final frame saw the Pirates add five more.
It was a strong weekend overall for the Paisley side, who also took a 5–2 win over North Ayrshire Wild on Saturday. Fifteen-year-old Lennon Deeney scored both goals for the Wild in what was a competitive game despite the scoreline.
Capitals Stay Unbeaten
At Murrayfield, Edinburgh Capitals extended their unbeaten run with a 2–0 victory over Aberdeen Lynx.
It was a fast-paced, competitive contest, with both teams working hard from the outset. The Capitals looked composed in possession and made the most of their chances, while the Lynx created pressure but couldn’t find a way past netminder Ben Keddie, who earned a well-deserved shutout.
Chad Smith opened the scoring midway through the second period, with Adam Robinson adding a power-play goal soon after to seal the win and send the Capitals top of the standings.
Rockets Take Four Points from the Weekend
Dundee Rockets enjoyed a strong weekend, scoring freely in both games. On Saturday, they registered a 17–3 win against Kilmarnock Thunder at the Galleon Centre. Jack Henderson led the charge with five goals, in a game that remained disciplined despite the high scoreline.
On Sunday, the Rockets hosted Kirkcaldy Kestrels and secured a 6–1 victory. A four-goal first period gave them an early cushion, with strong defensive work limiting the Kestrels’ chances for the remainder of the game.
With many teams now level or separated by just a couple of points from mid-table upwards, the race for positions remains extremely tight as the season heads into its next phase.
League Table Clarification
As the standings continue to shift each week, it’s worth clarifying how league positions are determined in the SNL. When teams are level on points, positions are decided by head-to-head results, then overall goal difference, then goals scored. The first column in the league table graphic is autogenerated by the system, and work is underway to remove those numbers to avoid confusion.
