Saturday’s clash between the Dundee Rockets and the Aberdeen Lynx lived up to its billing as an intense battle between two of our senior top sides. With the Lynx holding a slender one-goal advantage from their first-leg win in Dundee, the Rockets needed to come out firing—and they did just that.
Barely two minutes into the game, Rockets’ John Gordon found the net, igniting their fightback. The Lynx responded in kind through Jack Hutton, who equalised midway through the first period, leaving both teams deadlocked in a contest that saw strong performances at both ends of the ice.
The second period offered no breakthroughs, despite the Lynx having multiple opportunities to capitalise on Rockets‘ penalty troubles. The visitors’ penalty kill unit stood firm, and the game remained tied heading into the third period.
John Gordon struck again for the Rockets early in the final frame, giving them a narrow lead. But with the aggregate score still level, both teams ramped up their intensity. Rockets captain Sam McCluskey delivered what proved to be the turning point, scoring a crucial goal before Drew Rumgay added another just a minute later. The final nail came in the dying seconds as the Rockets secured a commanding 5-1 win on the night and advanced to the final on aggregate.
Dundee Rockets will now await the winner of the Kirkcaldy Kestrels and Edinburgh Capitals semi-final, the second leg of which is scheduled for February.

Sunday’s rematch in Whitley Bay was a tighter affair, with the Warriors taking a 5-3 victory.
