Scottish ice hockey fans were treated to an electrifying weekend of league action, with four games delivering intense battles, remarkable performances, and no shortage of drama. The top three teams maintained their positions at the summit, but the Kirkcaldy Kestrels are proving to be the team to watch, extending their winning streak to three games and closing the gap on the leaders. Here’s a full breakdown of the action:
Aberdeen Lynx 5 -1 Kilmarnock Thunder
The final scoreline may suggest a comfortable victory for Aberdeen Lynx, but Kilmarnock Thunder made the league leaders work hard for every goal in what was a tightly contested match until the final 10 minutes.
Aberdeen began strongly, with Sean Dyer capitalising on a power play to put the visitors ahead in the first period. The second period saw the Lynx dominate possession and create multiple scoring chances, but Thunder’s netminder Harry Campbell delivered a standout performance, turning away shot after shot to keep his team within striking distance.

Kirkcaldy Kestrels 5–2 Edinburgh Capitals
The Kirkcaldy Kestrels are a team on a mission, and they made their intentions clear with a statement win over the Edinburgh Capitals in front of a home crowd.
The opening period was a physical affair, with both teams trading chances and testing each other’s defenses. Scott Jamieson broke the deadlock for the Kestrels, finding the back of the net with a shot that gave his team a 1-0 lead.
In the second period, the Capitals increased their offensive efforts, creating several scoring opportunities but failing to beat Kirkcaldy’s netminder. The Kestrels, on were focused, Jamie Wilson and James Spence each scored, giving the home side a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into the final period.
The third period saw the Kestrels continue their dominance, with Allan Anderson adding a fourth goal. The Capitals responded with goals from Sean Cochrane and Joel Gautschi, briefly threatening a comeback, but Kirkcaldy captain Graeme Chalmers-Allan delivered a crushing blow with a late goal to secure the win.
This victory not only keeps the Kestrels on their three-game winning streak but also puts them within a single point of third place, proving they are a force to be reckoned with as the season progresses.
North Ayrshire Wild 0–4 Dundee Rockets
North Ayrshire Wild may not have come away with the win, but their determination and defensive resilience stood out in a tough home fixture against the well-drilled Dundee Rockets.
The Rockets struck early, with Drew Rumgay opening the scoring in the first period. The Wild responded with a spirited defensive effort, frustrating Dundee’s offense for long stretches and keeping the game within reach. In the second period, Dundee’s Lewis McIntosh doubled their lead, but the Wild’s young roster continued to battle, showing maturity and grit against one of the league’s top teams.
The third period saw the Rockets ramp up the pressure, but North Ayrshire held firm until the closing minutes of the game. Two late goals from Dundee ultimately sealed a 4-0 victory, but the Wild left the ice with their heads held high, having made their opponents work for every point.
Although their lack of scoring remains a challenge, the Wild’s effort and determination suggest they have the potential to grow and develop as the season progresses.
Paisley Pirates 5–2 Kilmarnock Thunder
Kilmarnock Thunder faced a grueling back-to-back schedule, traveling to Braehead to face the Paisley Pirates less than 24 hours after their hard-fought game against the Lynx. Despite a promising start, fatigue seemed to catch up with the Thunder as the Pirates capitalised late to secure a convincing victory.
The opening period was a tight affair, with neither team managing to break through. Early in the second, Martyn Simpson finally broke the deadlock for the Pirates, only for Thunder’s Torin MacLachlan to respond with a power-play equaliser, keeping the game finely balanced.
The third period, however, saw the Pirates take control. Fraser Kerr scored twice in quick succession, exploiting gaps in the Thunder’s defense. Andy Barr gave Thunder a glimmer of hope with a well-taken goal, but Paisley’s relentless pressure paid off. The Pirates added an empty-net goal before Martyn Simpson‘s late strike capped off a 5-2 win.
For Thunder, it was a weekend of mixed emotions. While the results didn’t go their way, their performances showed improvement, and they remain a team capable of causing upsets when they find their rhythm.
