The Scottish ice hockey season heads into one of its biggest weekends, with silverware on the line and the final places in the playoff semi-finals still to be decided.

Scottish Cup Final & Women’s Playoffs
All eyes turn to Fife Ice Arena on Saturday night, where Whitley Warriors and Edinburgh Capitals meet in the Scottish Cup Final.
It’s set to be a packed rink, with a crowd of over 2,000 expected in Kirkcaldy. Both sides travel with strong support, and there’s a real sense this one has been building all season.
The Capitals arrive as league champions and have had the edge in this matchup, winning three of the four meetings between the sides. Most of those games have been tight, with little between them, which points to another close contest on Saturday night.
For Whitley, a Scottish Cup in their first season at this level would be a significant statement. For Edinburgh, it’s the chance to add to their league title and finish the job.
The day begins earlier with the Women’s Playoffs, starting at 4:00pm — and it marks a significant moment for the sport. This will be the first official competition delivered under the newly formed Scottish Ice Hockey women’s section, bringing together the three Scottish registered teams in a national competition for the first time.
Dundee Royals, Fife Arctic Foxes and Glasgow Thistles will compete in a mini round-robin format, with each game carrying immediate importance. The top two sides will progress to the final later in the schedule, where the first Scottish Ice Hockey Women’s Playoff Champions will be decided on the night.
With three teams, a condensed format, and a title on the line all in one evening, it promises to be a fast-paced and competitive occasion — and a chance to be part of a piece of Scottish ice hockey history.
With demand high, supporters planning to attend are encouraged to secure tickets online in advance. It not only saves time on the day but also comes at a lower price, with tickets on the door set to be higher.
For those unable to make it to Kirkcaldy, the game will also be available via live stream — the first time Scottish Ice Hockey has delivered a streamed event. No matter which team you support, it’s a chance to follow one of the standout fixtures of the season.

Playoff Quarter-Finals – Second Legs
Alongside the Cup Final, the Scottish National League playoffs continue with the deciding second legs of the quarter-finals.
Paisley Pirates and Whitley Warriors have already secured their places in the semi-finals, leaving two ties still to be settled this weekend.
Edinburgh Capitals take a 7–0 advantage into their return leg against North Ayrshire Wild. Although it is listed as a home game for the Wild, it will be played at Murrayfield Ice Arena, and they face a difficult task trying to close that gap.
The other tie sees Dundee Rockets and Solway Sharks SNL meet across a double header — Dundee on Saturday, Dumfries on Sunday.
It’s a matchup between sides from different ends of the table, with Dundee finishing second in the league, while this marks Solway’s first season at this level. Dundee will be looking to carry that form into the quarter-finals and make a statement across the weekend, but they will have to find a way past Solway’s netminder Harry Campbell.
Across two games in quick succession, it’s set up to be a demanding, hard-fought tie, with a place at Finals Weekend on the line.
By the end of Sunday, the semi-final line-up for Dundee will be confirmed, setting up the final weekend of the Scottish National League season.
