Five league fixtures took place across the Scottish National League this weekend, with all clubs maintaining their positions in the standings following another busy set of results.
Solway Sharks 3 – 5 Aberdeen Lynx
Saturday’s meeting in Dumfries saw Aberdeen Lynx take a 5–3 victory over Solway Sharks. The visitors made a strong start and opened the scoring inside six minutes as Jordan Leyden converted on the man advantage. Solway responded through Scott Cowan to level the contest, but the Lynx restored their lead late in the first period, Callum Smith finishing from a Josh Purvis assist.
The second period remained closely fought, with Struan Tonnar bringing Solway back on terms to set up a decisive final frame. The third period began dramatically as Lewis Chalmers put the Sharks ahead just seconds after the restart. Aberdeen responded immediately. Zac Thomson levelled the game, before Jaydn Baxter added a fourth to swing momentum back in the Lynx’s favour. With Solway pushing late and their netminder pulled, Conor Duncan sealed the result with an empty-net goal at 59:25 to complete a 5–3 win.
North Ayrshire Wild 2 – 6 Edinburgh Capitals
Edinburgh Capitals strengthened their position at the top of the table with a controlled performance against North Ayrshire Wild. Smith completed his hat-trick in the second period as Edinburgh extended their advantage. Liam Houston pulled one back for Wild, but Jonah Johnston and Garry Simpson added further goals before the second intermission. Rocco Murray netted an unassisted effort in the third, but the Capitals remained in control to close out a 6–2 victory.
Whitley Warriors 11 – 3 Aberdeen Lynx
Sunday brought a very different challenge for the Lynx in Whitley Bay. Aberdeen started positively, Jordan Leyden opening the scoring with an unassisted effort. Kyle Ross levelled for the Warriors midway through the first, before Jaydn Baxter restored the Lynx lead to make it 2–1 at the break.
The second period proved decisive. Whitley turned the game around with sustained pressure, netting seven goals in quick succession. Conor Duncan converted on the power play for Aberdeen during the period, but the Warriors continued to build their lead. Netminder Kain Mitchell took over from Rory Wood during the period, making his second SNL appearance. Phil Edgar registered a hat-trick during Whitley’s surge as the score moved to 8–3.
The third period settled into a more even contest, but Whitley added two further goals to complete an 11–3 win.
Dundee Rockets 13 – 1 Kilmarnock Thunder
Dundee Rockets delivered a dominant display against Kilmarnock Thunder. The match was notable for its low penalty count, with both sides focused on open play. As the game progressed, Thunder created more chances, while Matthew Reid and Aaron Forsyth shared netminding duties. The Rockets remained clinical throughout to secure a 13–1 victory.
The Rockets collected two points over the weekend, remaining one point behind the Warriors in the standings with two games in hand.
Paisley Pirates 4 – 3 Dundee Rockets
