The race behind the unbeaten Edinburgh Capitals continued this weekend, with five SNL fixtures delivering goals, momentum swings, and a few familiar storylines — though little change in the standings.
The Capitals remain the benchmark, extending their perfect start with a 6–2 win over the Aberdeen Lynx at the Linx Ice Arena. After a minute’s silence for Remembrance Day, the visitors took early control through Sean Stewart, Joe Lynch, and Conner McNulty. The Lynx rallied late in the second with goals from Jordan Leyden and Conor Duncan, but McNulty completed his hat-trick in the final period before Joel Gautschi added a late strike to seal the result — making it ten wins from ten for the league leaders.
North Ayrshire Wild beat Kilmarnock Thunder 8–1 on Saturday, then faced the Paisley Pirates in Braehead on Sunday. Paisley led 3–0 at the first break, Chris Wilson made it 4–0, and Rocco Murray pulled one back for the Wild before the Pirates struck again to extend their lead. Zak Kenneth added a second for the visitors in the final period, but the Pirates saw out a 5–2 win. The result keeps Paisley third on 16 points, while the Wild’s two-point weekend moves them to four.
In Whitley, the Dundee Rockets and Whitley Warriors played out a close contest that followed a similar pattern to the Lynx v Capitals game the night before — one team building a three-goal cushion before the other hit back with two in quick succession, showing just how quickly momentum can shift in the SNL. The Rockets led 3–2 heading into the final period after goals from Cameron McGiffin, Sam McCluskey, and John Dolan, but the Warriors turned it around through Harry Harley and Cameron Ware before Phil Edgar struck to level the score. Cameron Ware then scored and moments later Rockets John Gordon equalised. In overtime, Rio Page found the winner for the Rockets, keeping Dundee close behind on 15 points, just one behind the Warriors and Pirates.
Meanwhile, in Kirkcaldy, the Kestrels pulled off a late turnaround to beat the Solway Sharks 2–1. The Sharks led through Lewis Chalmers first-period power-play effort, but the hosts pushed hard in the final frame, scoring twice in the last five minutes to take the points. The result lifts Kirkcaldy to 14 points, edging ahead of the Lynx in a tightly packed mid-table.
With the halfway stage of the season approaching, the Capitals continue to set the standard — but with only a few points separating the teams behind them, the battle for positioning is wide open heading into the winter stretch.
