It’s another packed weekend of Scottish National League action, with five fixtures lined up — two on Saturday and three on Sunday — and plenty at stake across the table.

Saturday: Can anyone halt the Capitals’ perfect run?

The action begins on Saturday as the Edinburgh Capitals make the trip north to face the Aberdeen Lynx at the Linx Ice Arena.

When the sides last met in October at Murrayfield, the Capitals took a 2–0 win with both goals coming in the second period. The league leaders remain unbeaten so far this season — but can anyone halt their perfect run? The Lynx, who have lifted silverware in each of the last three seasons, will be determined to be the team to do it. They head into this fixture on the back of a home win last weekend and will be eager to carry that momentum into what promises to be a fierce, fast-paced contest in front of a packed Aberdeen crowd.

Also on Saturday, the North Ayrshire Wild host the Kilmarnock Thunder at Auchenharvie.

When the two sides first met on the opening weekend of the season, the Wild came out on top with a 12–3 victory. Both teams have had challenging campaigns since then — the Wild currently sit on two points, while Thunder are still searching for their first win. With valuable points up for grabs, it’s an important matchup for both sides as they look to gain momentum in the league.

Sunday: Rockets face Warriors in a heavyweight contest

Sunday sees the Dundee Rockets travel south to face the Whitley Warriors — a fixture not to be missed.

This is the first meeting between the two sides, and both come into it in strong form. The Warriors sit second in the standings on 15 points, just two behind the Capitals, while the Rockets are fourth on 13 with a game in hand. With both teams well-drilled and hungry for points, fans can expect a high-intensity battle. A win for Whitley could see them pressuring the Capitals at the top of the table, while Dundee will be eager to keep their own upward momentum after climbing a position last weekend. Both will have their eye on silverware as the season progresses.

Elsewhere on Sunday, the North Ayrshire Wild head to Braehead to take on the Paisley Pirates.

It will be the second game of the weekend for the Wild, who face a tough test after playing the night before. The young side will meet a physical Pirates team on the larger ice surface. Sitting third in the league, the Pirates will be aiming to keep pressure on the top two, while North Ayr look to build on their progress and reduce the gap between themselves and Solway. It will be a difficult task to take points from the experienced Paisley side, but if Wild can make it a four-point weekend, it would be a huge boost for them.

Rounding out the weekend, the Kirkcaldy Kestrels welcome the Solway Sharks to Fife.

The Kestrels currently sit sixth in the table, with Solway in seventh — though six points separate the sides. Kirkcaldy earned a 5–0 shutout victory in their last meeting, but both teams come into this one with something to prove. The Kestrels have had some close games over the past two weekends, including taking points off the Lynx, while the Sharks still have three games in hand on their Fife rivals. The Kestrels, who have already played 12 games this season, know that every point counts — and if they want to climb back up the standings, they need the win.

With top spots up for grabs and key battles across the standings, it’s shaping up to be another exciting weekend of Scottish ice hockey.
