UK Ice Hockey Foundation announces the inaugural Hockey Development Summit

The UK Ice Hockey Foundation, in partnership with Ice Hockey UK, is proud to announce a landmark event for the sport: the Hockey Development Summit, which will take place from 26th to 28th June 2026 in Sheffield.

This event will bring together over 200 leaders from the UK’s junior programmes, marking the first time the entire youth landscape has convened with the shared purpose of reshaping the development environment for young players across the nation.

Throughout the weekend, international guest speakers and experts from the Foundation will share insights into world-class, age‑appropriate and developmentally-aligned approaches to programming, coaching and competition.

Kevin McLaughlin, Head of Hockey Development at UKIHF, said: “We look forward to welcoming everyone who plays a role in junior hockey development in the UK, especially club leaders, chairpersons, and head coaches.

“We recognise the extensive dedication shown by all who have spent time leading clubs, coaching and supporting volunteers, families and young athletes.

“Now is the ideal time to strengthen that commitment by embracing fresh perspectives and fostering greater partnership and collaboration, aimed at pushing the sport to new heights.

“It’s a really exciting time to be involved in junior hockey and we see this event as an opportunity to bring everyone together, share knowledge and learn a fresh perspective on how the UK can grow membership and develop more talent than ever before.”

Junior clubs from across the UK have been sent a save the date message with official invites to follow next week. Should any senior club officials not have received this notification, please email summit@ukihf.org.

A full report from the Hockey Development Summit will be published once the event closes on 28th June 2026.
