After a packed schedule last weekend, this week’s action is a little lighter, but with teams looking to build momentum heading into the latter stages of the season, there’s still plenty to play for.
Kirkcaldy Kestrels vs. Kilmarnock Thunder (Saturday – Fife Ice Arena)
Kirkcaldy Kestrels take on Kilmarnock Thunder at home as they look to steady their league form. While they recently secured their place in the Scottish Cup Final, their SNL results haven’t been as consistent. Sitting in 4th place with 22 points, they’ll want to ensure Paisley Pirates — who are just three points behind—don’t close the gap any further.
Thunder have had a tough season and will be in for another difficult test in Fife. While results have been hard to come by, they’ll be looking to put in a competitive performance and push the Kestrels where they can.
Paisley Pirates vs. Edinburgh Capitals (Saturday – Braehead Arena)
Paisley Pirates and Edinburgh Capitals meet for the fourth time this season in league play, with the Capitals having come out on top in all three previous encounters. However, the Pirates have been in strong form recently, riding a three-game winning streak—including a key victory over the Kestrels — and picking up a four-point weekend last time out.
Edinburgh remain ahead of Aberdeen Lynx in the standings, but with just three points separating the two, they won’t want to slip up. With Pirates gaining confidence, they’ll be determined to finally get one over on the Capitals and extend their winning streak.
Aberdeen Lynx vs. North Ayrshire Wild (Saturday – Linx Ice Arena)
Aberdeen Lynx host North Ayrshire Wild in a fixture they’ve dominated this season. Just a couple of weeks ago, Lynx put in a commanding performance against the young Wild side, and they’ll be looking for another strong result as they continue to chase Edinburgh in the standings.
With just three points between Lynx and the Capitals, every game counts in the race for positioning. Wild, meanwhile, will aim to put up a resilient showing as they continue their development against a more experienced side.
Weekend Fixtures
While this weekend’s fixtures may not bring major shifts in the standings, each team has their own motivation to pick up points and maintain momentum. Expect another competitive weekend of SNL action.
