Scottish Cup Semifinals:

In a thrilling Scottish Cup semifinal clash, the Aberdeen Lynx faced off against the Dundee Comets in a nail-biting encounter. After a narrow 5-4 win in the first leg, the Lynx aimed to secure their spot in the finals, but they faced stiff competition against last year’s Scottish Cup winners. Jack Flynn opened the scoring for Lynx early in the game, but the Comets dominated the scoring in the second period, netting four goals. Trailing 4-1, the Lynx staged a remarkable comeback in the final period, with John Dolan and new signing Brant Saretsky scoring crucial goals. The Lynx secured a 4-4 victory on aggregate, setting up a final showdown against the Edinburgh Capitals on April 20th in Dundee.

In the SNL arena, the Dundee Comets faced the Kirkcaldy Kestrels in a closely contested match. Both teams scored two goals each in the first period, and neither managed to find the net in the second. The Kestrels edged ahead in the third period, but the Comets quickly responded, forcing the game into a shootout. Sean Beattie scored the decisive goal, giving the Comets a 4-3 victory and two valuable league points.

League Leaders, Edinburgh Capitals, traveled west to face Kilmarnock Thunder. Thunder had a strong start, securing a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period. The Capitals regained their momentum in the second period, scoring four goals, with Chad Smith and Joel Gautschi each contributing two. Thunder added two more goals, including Innes Gallacher’s second, completing his hat trick for the night. With a score of 5-4 entering the final period, the Capitals maintained their momentum, scoring an additional four goals and ultimately winning 8-6. This victory solidified their two-point lead at the top of the league table.

The Aberdeen Lynx continued their impressive form with a 6-0 victory over North Ayrshire Wild. Mark Laing’s hat-trick and a solid performance secured the Lynx’s second-place position in the league, just two points behind the Capitals.

On Sunday, the Paisley Pirates faced the Kirkcaldy Kestrels at the Braehead Arena. The Kestrels took an early lead, and despite a second-period comeback attempt by the Pirates, the Kestrels sealed the win with a final score of 6-3, earning two crucial points in the league standings.
