We move into the second month of the 2025/26 season, and this weekend promises plenty of action with six fixtures lined up across the Scottish National League. Four teams face double headers, and with plenty of points up for grabs, the race is starting to heat up.
Whitley Warriors sit top of the table on 10 points, with Aberdeen Lynx and Edinburgh Capitals both chasing on 6. With no games scheduled for Whitley this weekend, they’ll keep hold of first place regardless of results elsewhere – but the chasing pack have a big opportunity to close the gap.
Last weekend, Kirkcaldy Kestrels pushed the Capitals all the way to a penalty shootout in one of the games of the season so far. They’ll look to build on that performance with a double header: away to Kilmarnock Thunder on Saturday, then back on home ice Sunday against North Ayrshire Wild. A four-point weekend could lift them significantly up the standings.
Edinburgh host Paisley Pirates on Saturday in a fixture that could prove decisive for the early table. The Capitals are level on points with the Lynx, but with Pirates on four points, two wins this weekend (they face Thunder on Sunday) could see the Paisley side leapfrog into contention.
Kilmarnock face a testing weekend, starting at home against the Kestrels on Saturday before travelling to Paisley on Sunday. With both opponents hungry for points, Thunder will need to dig deep if they want to climb off the bottom of the table.
North Ayrshire travel to Dundee on Saturday to face the Dundee Rockets. Their last meeting ended 8–2 in favour of the Rockets, and while Wild know it will be a tough challenge, they’ll be aiming to put in a stronger showing this time and test their opponents before heading to Kirkcaldy on Sunday.
Solway Sharks remain on the road as renovations at the Dumfries Ice Bowl continue. Still looking for their first win, they head to Aberdeen on Saturday to face a Lynx side sitting second in the table – a tough ask, but one they’ll be eager to meet in search of their first points of the season.
With so many teams in double action and valuable points at stake, this could be a pivotal weekend. The Warriors may be safe at the summit for now, but the chasing pack is starting to heat up.
