Five Scottish National League fixtures took place across the weekend, with Dundee Rockets and North Ayrshire Wild both facing double-headers. The Rockets maintained their unbeaten record with another four-point weekend, while Kirkcaldy Kestrels celebrated their first victory of the season.

There were convincing wins for Edinburgh Capitals and Paisley Pirates, while the results brought further movement in the league standings, with the Rockets closing the gap on leaders Whitley Warriors.

Kestrels Claim First Win of the Season

It was a night worth celebrating for Kirkcaldy Kestrels as they finally got their first league win of the season, beating Solway Sharks SNL 6–2 in Dumfries on Sunday.

Despite travelling with a shorter bench than their hosts, the Kestrels wasted little time making their mark. Graeme Allan opened the scoring on the power play before Benji Orgil struck shorthanded to give the visitors a two-goal advantage.

Kirkcaldy carried that form into the second period, adding another three goals as they took control of the game. Jude Beattie pulled one back for the Sharks, but the home side faced an uphill battle heading into the final 20 minutes.

Solway continued to push and Beattie grabbed his second of the night, but Allan Anderson was also on target for Kirkcaldy as the teams traded goals in the final period.

For the Kestrels, it was a welcome reward after a difficult start to the campaign. The victory not only secured their first two league points but also lifted them off the bottom of the table, giving the Fife side plenty to celebrate on the journey home.

Rockets Continue Perfect Run with Four-Point Weekend

Dundee Rockets show no signs of slowing down as they extended their unbeaten start to the season with victories over Aberdeen Lynx and Kilmarnock Thunder, taking their record to seven wins from seven games.

Their weekend began on Saturday with a trip north to face Aberdeen Lynx at the Linx Ice Arena, where they came away with a 6–2 victory.

The Rockets made the stronger start, scoring twice in the opening period to put Aberdeen on the back foot. The Lynx responded in the second, but Dundee added three more goals of their own to establish a commanding 5–1 lead heading into the final period.

Both sides found the net once more in the third, with Aberdeen defenceman Logan Gordon scoring the Lynx’s second goal of the night, but the Rockets had already done enough to secure the points.

On Sunday, Dundee returned home for their Halloween fixture against Kilmarnock Thunder, producing a 17–0 victory.

The Rockets scored nine times in the opening period to establish a substantial lead.

It was a difficult afternoon for the visitors, but despite the mounting scoreline, Kilmarnock continued to battle, digging deep and refusing to allow frustration to get the better of them.

The two victories gave Dundee another four league points and extended their unbeaten start to seven games.

With seven wins from seven games, Dundee are now just two points behind league leaders Whitley Warriors, with two games in hand. Their unbeaten start puts them in a strong position to challenge for the top spot.

Capitals Prove Too Strong for Wild at Auchenharvie

North Ayrshire Wild faced a demanding weekend, hosting Edinburgh Capitals on Saturday before travelling to Paisley Pirates on Sunday.

Their first challenge came at Auchenharvie Ice Rink, where Edinburgh Capitals secured a 9–0 away victory.

The visitors opened the scoring inside the first two minutes through Marcus Murdoch, before adding another three goals to take a 4–0 lead into the first intermission.

Edinburgh continued to dominate the scoring in the second period, finding the net four more times as Wild struggled to contain the Capitals’ attacking pressure.

The scoring slowed in the final period, with Richard Hartmann Jnr adding Edinburgh’s ninth and final goal to complete the shutout.

The result secured another two league points for the Capitals, who remain third in the standings with five wins from their opening six fixtures.

For Wild, there was little time to recover, with a trip to Paisley awaiting them the following day.

Pirates Mark First Home Game with Ten-Goal Victory

Sunday saw North Ayrshire Wild travel to Braehead Arena to face Paisley Pirates, who were playing their first home league fixture of the season.

The Pirates secured a 10–1 victory, moving above Aberdeen Lynx into fourth place in the league standings.

Paisley opened the scoring inside the first minute before adding another two goals to take a 3–0 lead into the first intermission.

Wild showed some improvement in the second period, but the Pirates continued to apply pressure and made the most of their scoring opportunities, adding five more goals to stretch their advantage to 8–0.

The final period proved the closest of the three on the scoresheet, with Wild finding a way past the Paisley netminder.

Thomas Carroll was the scorer, converting on the power play to register North Ayrshire’s only goal of the game.

However, the Pirates added two more goals before the final buzzer, including Aiden Wilson’s fourth of the night, to complete the 10–1 victory.

The result gave Paisley two league points and moved them above Aberdeen Lynx into fourth place in the standings.

For North Ayrshire, it was a difficult double-header against two strong opponents, with the Wild conceding 19 goals across their two away fixtures.

League Standings: Rockets Close in on Warriors

Whitley Warriors remain at the top of the Scottish National League standings with 16 points from nine games, but Dundee Rockets are now just two points behind.

The Rockets have 14 points from seven games and, crucially, have two games in hand over the league leaders. With a perfect record so far, Dundee are in a strong position to challenge for the top spot.

Edinburgh Capitals sit third with 10 points from six games, while Paisley Pirates‘ victory over North Ayrshire Wild sees them move into fourth, level on points with the Capitals but having played two games more.

Aberdeen Lynx slip to fifth on eight points, with Solway Sharks SNL a point behind in sixth.

North Ayrshire Wild remain seventh with four points, while Kirkcaldy Kestrels‘ first victory moves them onto two points and into eighth place.

Kilmarnock Thunder remain at the foot of the table, still searching for their first points of the season.

The weekend’s results have tightened the race at the top, brought a change in the middle of the standings and seen Kirkcaldy Kestrels finally get their first points on the board.
